4th Annual Tracheal Stenosis Conference
We would like to thank everyone for traveling from all over the world to attend the 4th Annual Tracheal Stenosis Conference. We had a great weekend of events, starting with the Meet and Greet on Friday, then the conference and ending with a wonderful brunch before checkout on Sunday. It was a pleasure meeting everyone and hearing all your stories. I am also grateful to all the doctors that unselfishly gave their time to share information and meet patients and families. One doctor laughed when her patient mentioned that she looks so different outside of scrubs:)
Each doctor shared their research, experience and even personal and emotional stories, which enabled us to get to know these doctors in a more informal manner than we normally would in a doctor's office or in surgery. We are thankful for their knowledge, experience with this rare disease and desire to change our lives.
We would also like to announce that we will begin to host the Tracheal Stenosis Conference every other year going forward. Therefore the next event will take place in Spring 2019. While, the conferences are a wealth of information and an opportunity for us to meet the doctors and network with other patients, statistics and findings may not change each year or as much as some may assume. Additionally, the foundation would like to also focus efforts on outreach and raising awareness through activities and fundraisers. We will have large fundraisers on each non-conference year in different cities. As patients, we have to make our voices heard. In doing so, we will advocate for better testing for TS (not assume its' asthma), educate the public and the medical community on this rare disease and continue to support research for improved treatment.

Dr. Marshall Smith is a professor of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. He is a board certified otolaryngologist and the medical director of the Voice Disorders Center. He completed his residency in Otolaryngology at UCLA and a fellowship in Pediatric Otolaryngology in Cincinnati. He is an NIH funded investigator and participates in research on various voice disorders. He provides evaluation, medical and surgical care of the voice.
Dr. Robert Lorenz is an ENT-otolaryngologist in Cleveland, Ohio and is affiliated with Cleveland Clinic. He received his medical degree from University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry and has been in practice between 11-20 years. He is one of 40 doctors at Cleveland Clinic who specialize in Otolaryngology.
